Dresses

Maxi Dresses are versatile and can be worn to dress up or dress down depending on the style and fabric that it is made out of. Usually it is the cotton maxi dresses that can be worn to any occasion.

There are two takes on the sheer maxi dress / maxi skirt trend, both created to inspire your sense of style. The maxi dress comes in a range of styles from bandeau to one shoulder, with this season more prone to print i.e. floral print to animal print designs. First up, we can definitely see the benefit of the maxi dress/skirt which lets you hide a multitude of problems and stops your legs from suffocation.

Many of the maxi dresses that you can buy nowadays are made with an empire waist stretchy waist band which means that they can fit women of various different sizes and shapes. Though maxi dresses are long and flowing, they are made of thin delicate material which will keep a woman nice and cool on those hot summer days. The breeze will flow right through so that you can stay comfortable no matter where you might be; especially for outdoor events. Length is very important when it comes to wearing the ideal maxi dress. Most women think that a maxi dress should reach the heel of the foot; but really, the ideal maxi dress should petty much reach the floor and cover your feet.

Flat sandals are the best to wear for comfort and to compliment the dress that you are wearing. For women that are short and want to appear taller, some nice platform sandals or wedge heels would work out nicely.

Short dresses seemed to be what many women preferred to wear to show off their legs during the summer season, but for the trend of 2011 the fashion is set for the long and beautiful maxi dress that will keep the skin covered while at the same time showing a woman’s true feminine side.

Tail hems

Tail hems have been seen as an alternative to the summer mini skirt or maxi dress for sometime, and for spring / summer 2011 'tail hems' continue their reign as the more interesting alternative to both. The style is all about the back of the dress being longer than the front. They will make all the difference in styles suited to spring 2011's trends. These hems fill the void between a mini and midi, or between midi and maxi. They're a simple way to freshen up your spring 2011 wardrobe with a new type of cut. A shirttail hem is traditionally cut shorter on the sides, with a longer 'tail' at the back.

In 2011 the trend is more than just a shirttail hem, however: it's any manner of dresses, skirts or tops that have a hem that's shorter in front, longer in back. The shirt tail hem is the hot new trend this season in women’s shirts, dresses and skirts.  Whether you love it or hate it, you’ve got to admit that the tail hem’s ever-changing creative designs are never boring!  Although this classic hem style has been well-known among stylists, designers and fashionistas alike; during this Spring/Summer ‘11 season its’ new founded popularity has appeared to have exploded throughout the fashion world. There are also a number of different designs of ‘tail hems’ that create stylish looks; suitable for business, casual, modern, flirty and modern styles!

Depending upon the desired look, there are specific types of ‘tail hems’ that are more appropriate to wear than others.  Each cut has its’ own undeniable charm and appeal. Fun and flirty meets mini to maxi hems (very short front hems to very long back hems); accentuating the legs and adding a bit of whimsical charm to the female form. Bold, new formality takes hold with the use of light and airy, luxury fabrics.  Soft and pretty chiffons make a beautiful canvas for cutaway styles; while the traditional overlapping fabric style of the ‘petal hem’ radiates a truly distinct and feminine style.
