Stop Cutting Cuticles!

Did you know in most states it is illegal to cut your cuticles?

Cuticles are a living tissue and just like the rest of your skin, when cut a scab will grow.

A lot of manicurists cut the cuticles way to much to keep you running back to them.  In fact not even your manicurist should be clipping this delicate area.

As their function is to protect the delicate nail bed from germs, and the moment you start cutting them off, the exposed nail bed will be at risk of infection.

It is important that you do the following for your cuticles:

1. Stop cutting your cuticles

The first three weeks will be hard BUT STICK WITH IT!!!

Instead just keep pushing them back gently. The best place to do this is in the shower. Try using your wash cloth. Wrap one thumb in the cloth and use it to gently push back the cuticles on the opposite hand.

2. Moisture, Moisture, Moisture!

Experts suggest that you moisturise your cuticles regularly. It does not matter if you use lotion, cream or oil. Most cuticle moisturisers contain the same main ingredients, so you don't have to spend a lot of money on products.

3. Eat right!

Your nails, hands and feet are the one of the first places on your body to show any lack of nourishment. Make sure you eat right and take multi-vitamins. Also Biotin is great for healthy nails, hair, and cuticles. You can even open up the capsules and smear the oil directly on the cuticles.
